Riverway becomes part of the Boston park system.

Designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, it is located at 440 Park Drive. Acquired beginning in 1883, it is designed to help solve flooding and pollution problems. The section of the park between Brookline Avenue and Huntington Avenue opens in 1893.
